Artists Shona Nunan, born in Australia in 1959, is a sculptor working predominantly in bronze. Her sculpture is abstract figurative, working with ancient archetypal themes such as the Woman vessel, the Yin and Yang in her pairs of male and female guardians, the Warrior or Hunter, the Horse and Rider, and more recently the Acrobat or the Harlequin. The work of Shona Nunan is often regarded as intimate, suiting interior spaces and niches, even though sculptures like her Horse and Riders, Acrobats and Guardians are large and are purchased for courtyards, gardens, parklands and foyers. She currently lives in Italy having access to the great foundries of Pietrasanta. Michael Cartwright, born in Australia in 1959, is a painter, sculptor and printmaker, working freely between the mediums of his choice. In sculpture he uses an abundant array of materials; marble, granite, bronze, wood, resin, steel, plaster. In painting he uses oil on linen to express his colorful, free and fluid interpretations of the renaissance, landscape, seascape, water, the nude. The work of Michael Cartwright could easily be described as monumental in all senses and for painting or sculpture, his work suits big spaces and has been purchased for grand entrances to hotels, VIP foyers to public buildings, restaurants, private collections and gardens. Michael is currently living in Italy, using the marble yards and foundries of Pierasanta and Carrara. Kevan Halson, born in England in 1964, is a photographer currently living and working in Tuscany, Italy. His photography focuses on contrasts; light and shade, old and new, soft and hard. His themes of architecture, interiors, landscapes, the nude, boats, sea ports, villas, capture his attention to detail, transforming the ordinary to the beautiful. Halson is on the leading edge of digital photography and there is no limit to the size or versatility of his print, equally at home in hotel rooms or huge foyers. His current sponsored project, photographing the ruin and decay of an ancient spa town in Italy, is to be shown in a major exhibition to promote the area, throughout 2009. |
